Grant Wardlow, MPS
Canadian Certified Counsellor
Counselling Therapist
Life is hard. It is constantly throwing challenges our way. Whether you are experiencing issues related to trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, addictions, and/or self-esteem, there comes a time when we can all use a helping hand. As a Canadian Certified Counsellor, I am trained to help those who are dealing with the worst that life has to offer. Whether you feel stuck or your life feels overwhelming, you are not alone. It would be my honour to journey with you along the path of self-discovery, healing, and growth.
"The most authentic thing about us is our capacity to create, to overcome, to endure, to transform, to love and to be greater than our suffering." - Ben Okri
My Approach
Beliefs & Values
We are a culmination of every life experience we have encountered. Unfortunately, not all encounters are favourable. No one is immune from experiencing adversity and as a result, to some extent, we all relate to the world from a place of our own woundedness. When these wounded parts of us get triggered, they can negatively affect our thoughts, feelings and behaviours, resulting in repeating life-patterns of struggle and strife, rather than a life of ease and contentment.
Approach
Using a client-centred approach, my commitment is to provide a safe, respectful and nonjudgmental environment in which you can begin to explore whatever life wounds and present thoughts, feelings, and behaviours may be causing you stress or hardship.
In my work with clients, I draw from several therapeutic techniques and modalities, including mindfulness, self-compassion, hakomi therapy, narrative therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, polyvagal theory, and EMDR. Our work together may include overcoming self-limiting beliefs, expanding your range of emotional feeling and expression, improving your ability to self-regulate, processing traumatic experiences/memories, changing self-defeating patterns of behaviour, providing you with a missing childhood experience, or helping you to live in a more mindful and conscious way.
The counselling process is a therapeutic journey. Together we will find a therapeutic approach that best suits your individual needs and provides you with the personal insights and resources you need to help you heal, grow, and change in ways that are congruent with your goals and desires.

I believe all people deserve access to therapy. It is for this reason, I designate several time-slots each week for clients who require a sliding pay scale due to their financial circumstances. This option is available to a limited number of clients at a time, for a limited number of sessions. The sliding scale fee is based on a client's current financial situation and will be determined prior to the first session. If you are in need of this service, please contact me to discuss options.
Cancellation/No Show Policy
I get it. Sometimes life happens. However, your appointment time is reserved just for you. If you cancel within 24-hours of your scheduled appointment or fail to show-up altogether, this leaves a hole in my schedule that could have been filled by another client. As such, I require 24-hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Clients who provide less than 24-hours notice, or miss their appointment, will be charged a fee of $120.
Insurance Coverage
While some insurance companies and policies cover my services, others do not. Please be sure to check with your insurance provider to find out whether or not your counselling sessions will be covered with a Canadian Certified Counsellor.
